Quick and Easy Coaching Skills Assessment Tool

Use this quick and easy coaching skills assessment tool to help you assess the current level of coaching skills and to identify those areas you want to work on.

It's a very simple tool, not rocket science by any stretch of the imagination, but it provides discipline to help you identify where you area at and where you want to go.

Step 1: Print off this page

Step 2: For each skills note down examples of where you are currently using these skills well. Add in any additional skills you think are important

Step 3: Give yourself a score out of 10 for each skill

Step 4: Decide what skills you would like to improve upon and any action you now need to take.

To broaden out your skills awareness consider asking others (friends, family, colleagues or your manager) to help you build your base. Remember however that by doing this you might uncover something that you at first don't want to hear so it's important to take all feedback and not respond to it immediately.

If you don't agree with something that someone has written, don't challenge them, sit down with them and ask them to elaborate or give you an example so by doing it this way you'll be able to understand their point of view and not end up in an argument!
