To broaden out your skills awareness consider asking others (friends, family, colleagues or your manager) to help you build your base. Remember however that by doing this you might uncover something that you at first don't want to hear so it's important to take all feedback and not respond to it immediately.
If you don't agree with something that someone has written, don't challenge them, sit down with them and ask them to elaborate or give you an example so by doing it this way you'll be able to understand their point of view and not end up in an argument!
